From the Haffenreffer Collection (see Sotheby's Catalog, New York, 1956 - "Cigar Store Indians and Other Trade Signs.") A handsome Merchant Captain in his brass buttoned uniform wears a visored cap with anchor insignia over his curly hair. The wooden figure, repainted in the 1960s, rests on a new display base and measures 68 inches high overall.
