Superb roaring lion's head off a late 1800s Looff carousel. See Carrousel Art No. 7, page 17. for a similar lion. Delightful folk art quality typical of the early Looff figures, with deeply carved mane and glass eyes. Stripped to wood, exhibiting some seam separation, fragment of wood missing from mane, one fang needs replacement. 30 long x 19 high, 14 wide.
