| 932-5 - Herschell-Spillman - $5200 Circa 1915 outside row carousel horse from the Herschell-Spillman factory in North Tonawanda, New York. The all wood jumper features a generously carved bi-directional mane and an arched neck supporting a large eyed refined head adorned with a jeweled and buckled headstall. A carved buckle on the girth secures the jeweled saddle which rests on a blanket with curved carved stripes. One of the most desirable designs from this factory, the horse is in good condition, exhibiting some seams, and is without missing parts. It presents an attractively patinated surface with muted remnants of old paint and stain, retains its metal shoes and stirrup hangers and carries a horsehair tail. 55 long x 48 high. |
